Message from the Project Co-ordinator

Welcome to our Jean Monnet Academic Network, located in Mytilini (Lesbos Island, Aegean Sea) coordinated by the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of the Aegean!

We are delighted by your interest in our domains of specialization, European studies, European governance, European Law and are certain that our priority on the research and expertise in these areas will continue to grow in our pluralist Europe.

We are well-placed to meet this challenge thanks to several comparative objectives:

• Our open research and scientific mind, which allows young researchers from seven countries (Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Romania, Spain and Greece) to experience European diversity, pluralism and trans-nationalisation
• A very dynamic team, which facilitates close and productive interaction between senior and junior researchers
• A remarkable source of inspiration and experience, which includes both specialists and junior researchers (PhD candidates make up nearly half of the student body) and is reinforced by our attachment to interdisciplinary scientific approach
• A European network of academic partners, which offers our students valuable opportunities for study and research exchanges
• A commitment to excellence, upon which our reputation is based and which guarantees the value of our research and study activities.

Our Academic Network commits to create an academic reputation by building upon common European tradition and encouraging innovation, but above all by ensuring the success of our junior collaborators.

I confess that we are privileged to work with such a distinguished group of researchers and specialists, and we are all deeply grateful to the European Commission (EACEA) whose support makes our work possible. I invite you to share our academic objectives in our scientific area’s accomplishments and our vision for the common European future.
