A few words from the holder of the European Chair
We think and act beyond national borders in order to take informed decisions in a changing Europe and in a globalised world. We realised very early on that we had to adopt a European approach, which must never be confined to our own region. Since the creation of our first Jean Monnet European Chair in 2002, we have made the European idea fundamental point to our academic strategy.
Our Jean Monnet Chair "Europe Citoyenne" now makes this orientation widely visible and brings together Europe-focused activities within a project that brings together academia and active civil society. The interdisciplinary results developed will help to make European objectives stable and dynamic for the future. We are thinking economically, legally and politically together, combining activities and solutions with each other and sharpening the vision of the society of our region, the North Aegean Sea, and especially the vision of the next generation of citizens, pupils and students today, for the European perspective.
The CitiEuro Chair offers an intrinsically European education that goes beyond the traditional academic framework of national higher education.
Our students and colleagues form a small internationalised community during an intensive academic period, supported by an international academic team, experiencing the challenges of diversity and unity.
Through higher education, the CitiEuro Chair invites young citizens to become more "European".By training students from all EU Member States and beyond, CitiEuro is in fact training multipliers who will carry a faithful and fair image of European integration into their future professional and personal lives.
Our programmes bring together EU and national policy makers with young people, encouraging dialogue between them and European decision makers.
Our main objective is to make European citizenship the basis of a democratic Union.
